Vinas del Vero Somontano reached in 1986 with the purchase of 550 hectares in Barbastro and some surrounding towns, in 1987 when they begin replanting the vineyards with indigenous varieties such as Tempranillo, Garnacha, Macabeo Moristel and, together with other foreign varieties such as Chardonnay, Gewürztraminer, Cabernet sauvignon, merlot, pinot noir and syrah.
In 1993 he completed the construction of the winery and in 1990 first appeared wines Viñas del Vero in the market. Since its first bid to the foreign varieties, by a respectful viticulture and plots, through its continued investments in facilities, which now allow separate vinification lots and lots of varieties.
Vinas del Vero produces three main lines of wine, the traditional varietals and Copyright, coherent and well established in their respective market segments, to which he has added a fourth, the "Limited Series" collaborative effort punctual with prestigious foreign winemakers. With now more than 1,000 hectares of vineyards, including self-controlled, Viñas del Vero is a philosophy and a reality recognized nationally and internationally.
Peter Aibar, winemaker and his alma mater, with the conception of Secastilla, made from old vines and hidden high grenache, wanted to give a new twist to the possibilities of Somontano, demonstrating that the region is not only made varietal wines excellent value for money, unless there is also the homeland and its greatness.
In 2000 founded Blecua, a wine-garde style, a blend of tradition and modernity, which sought the complexity and personality of the terroir. The results have been excellent, considering the Blecua one of the great wines of our country.
Vinas del Vero is now owned by Gonzalez Byass group, which is undertaking a major expansion in the sector and has identified it as a strategic opportunity, from the operational point of view maintains independence in the management within the group.
